Redgate brings together major industry speakers for SQL in the City Summits in three continents

Cambridge UK, Wednesday 10 April 2019 – On April 30, Redgate Software holds the first of six SQL in the City Summits which, over the following weeks, will see major industry figures speaking in three continents. The ambitious plan is part of Redgate’s ongoing efforts to demonstrate how data professionals can deliver value faster, while keeping data safe, by adopting DevOps for the database.

In an age of increasingly stringent data protection legislation across the globe, this compliant database DevOps approach is gaining a lot of attention and the Summits will feature well-known figures from the DevOps world alongside Microsoft Data Platform MVPs, consultants and IT experts.

The first event in London will include a panel discussion in which representatives from Aberdeen Standard Investments, Lloyd’s and Shawbrook Bank will talk about what businesses need to know before launching a DevOps Initiative.

At the Los Angeles event, Donovan Brown, Principal DevOps Manager at Microsoft, will give the opening keynote about the key findings from the 2019 State of Database DevOps Report. Known in DevOps circles as ‘the man in the black shirt’, Donovan wrote the forward to the report and is passionate about including the database in DevOps.

In Austin, Jeffrey Palermo, CEO of Clear Measure, will talk about what to consider when scoping a DevOps project, how to instigate cultural change to support it, and creating a game plan for a successful proof of concept.

And over in Australia and New Zealand, the founder of SQL Down Under, Greg Low, will provide a detailed introduction to Azure DevOps, and show how compliant database DevOps fits into the picture.

Other speakers at the events include Microsoft Data Platform MVPs, Kendra Little, Steve Jones and Grant Fritchey, as well as Pre-Sales Engineers and data specialists from Redgate. Each of the one-day Summits will give attendees the knowledge they need to implement a consistent, scalable, and repeatable process to help their teams keep application and database development in sync, while protecting data at every stage.

Ike Ellis, Microsoft MVP and partner at San Diego software studio, Crafting Bytes, will also be speaking at the Los Angeles event and comments: “This is a rare opportunity for IT professionals to get a real handle on DevOps and data privacy issues. Every business everywhere is now facing the same challenge to release software faster yet protect customer data, and these events give practical advice from businesses who are already doing it.”

The SQL in the City Summits will be held in London UK on April 30, Los Angeles CA on May 15, Austin TX on May 22, Brisbane AUS on May 31, Christchurch NZ on June 7, and Melbourne AUS on June 14. To find out more information and register for any of the events, search for ‘SQL in the City Summits’.

Calnex Ships Industry’s First 400GbE SyncE Measurement Solution enabling Deployment of High-speed Synchronous Ethernet Networks

EDINBURGH, SCOTLAND, April 10, 2019 – Calnex Solutions Ltd today shipped the industry’s first ever 400GbE Synchronous Ethernet (SyncE) Jitter & Wander measurement solution to a major North American equipment manufacturer. The Paragon-400G enables the jitter and wander performance of 400GbE SyncE network equipment to be validated.

The ITU-T standard for SyncE (G.8262) has strict limits for both Jitter Tolerance and Jitter Generation. It’s vital that network equipment can tolerate the levels of Jitter specified by G.8262 and that equipment does not generate jitter above the limits specified by G.8262.

“With 5G networks about to be deployed, Service Providers are preparing to deploy even higher speed core networks, and Ethernet synchronisation is crucial for the end-to-end operation of these systems. Without being able to validate 400GbE SyncE performance, Equipment Manufacturers, cannot ensure their equipment will perform and comply with the SyncE standards” said Tommy Cook, Calnex CEO. “The Paragon-400G is the only test solution able to make the synchronisation and jitter measurements required to verify 400GbE SyncE jitter and wander standards compliance.”

Paragon-400G is the first instrument to enable testing of SyncE technologies at 400GbE according to ITU-T G.8262.

About Calnex Solutions
Calnex Solutions is a leading provider of R&D test solutions for Ethernet synchronisation technologies. The company serves customers in more than 45 countries, including many of the largest telecom companies in the world. Information about Calnex is available on the Web at www.calnexsol.com.

OutSystems Recognised as a 2019 Top Rated Low-Code Platform for the Third Year in a Row by TrustRadius

LONDON – 9th April 2019 – OutSystems, provider of the number one platform for low-code rapid application development, today announced that it has been named a 2019 Top Rated Low-Code Platform by TrustRadius, the most trusted site for business technology B2B software reviews.

This distinction, based entirely on the feedback and rating from end users, evaluates the likelihood-to-recommend ratings and evaluation frequency by buyers. OutSystems was named one of the best low-code software platforms with a score of 8.9 out of 10 among 125 reviews as of April 3, 2019.

“OutSystems has earned a Top Rated Low-Code Development Platform award from TrustRadius based directly on customer feedback,” said Megan Headley, VP of Research at TrustRadius. “Reviewers love OutSystems for its solid multi-platform development capabilities, strong community support and interaction, and rapid advancement of developer skills.”

Steve Rotter, CMO of OutSystems, also highlighted the importance of this recognition: “This is the third year in a row that we’ve been recognised as a Top Rated Low-Code Platform. We’re constantly working to make sure OutSystems is the platform our customers trust to innovate, generate revenue, and improve productivity. This recognition and all the great reviews that led to it are a validation from real users that OutSystems provides true value to their business and that our customers are happy customers.”

Here are some of the reviews listed on TrustRadius about OutSystems:

“Significantly reduced time to market for both Mobile and Web applications. Ability to upskill developers far quicker than with most development environments. Enterprise-grade infrastructure and hosting out-of-the-box.” (Web and Enterprise Team Lead, Computer Software industry)

“The ease of use of the OutSystems platform has been the biggest ROI for us. We have developed our Framework product and maintained/enhanced it with only four workers. OutSystems has enhanced their product very significantly over the last four years. They have gone from a simple to use tool to a sophisticated tool that covers the standard mainframe-based computing apps.” (CIO, Computer Software industry)

“Our old, legacy system didn’t serve our needs anymore and it wasn’t flexible at all. With OutSystems, we are building a new one from scratch. Two of us are new to OutSystems (and IT) and learned to use it in a few months. We hired three external experts to build and teach the juniors, so we could start building and delivering value immediately.” (Student Supervisor, Non-Profit Organisation).

This is the third customer distinction OutSystems has received in less than a year. At the end of 2018, it was also named a Customers’ Choice by Gartner Peer Insights in two market categories: Mobile Application Development and Enterprise High-Productivity Application Platform as a Service.

This recognition by TrustRadius reinforces the position of OutSystems in the market, which has also just been named a Leader in the Forrester Wave: Low-Code Development Platforms for AD&D Professionals report.

Finastra to launch FusionONE Hackathon with Microsoft Azure

Teams will collaborate to innovate in first FusionFabric.cloud public hackathon

London, UK, April 9, 2019Finastra today announced the first public hackathon on its FusionFabric.cloud open development platform, underpinned by Microsoft Azure. The FusionONE Hackathon will take place over the weekend of May 17-19 in London. Teams from banks, Fintechs, integrators and independent developers are invited to join the event and create innovations grounded in Open Banking. Mentors from Microsoft, Accenture and VC INNOVATIONS (the company behind FinTECHTalents) will be on site to support the participating teams and will be part of the judging panel to select the winners.

Teams will be granted access to Finastra’s Open APIs – providing a window to Finastra’s core solutions, and allowing them to build new capabilities on top of trusted systems already in use at hundreds of banks globally. Using FusionFabric.cloud’s rapid development environment and integrated API management tools, teams are invited to create new solutions in one of five challenges:

  • Engagement – apps for the next generation of financial services customers
  • Machine learning insights – apps to better serve customer needs
  • Data visualization – displaying results, recommendations and learning intuitively
  • Inclusion – building a more inclusive financial ecosystem for customers
  • Sustainable finance – promoting financial well-being

Once fully tested, successful apps will be made available to banks through Finastra’s FusionStore – an online marketplace for banks to search for and consume applications.

“The FusionONE Hackathon will encourage teams to collaborate and co-innovate in building the next generation of financial applications – with a particular focus on areas that will make a real difference to people’s lives, such as customer engagement, financial inclusion and sustainable finance,” said Eli Rosner, Chief Product and Technology Officer, Finastra. “Running the event over 48 hours reflects how a platform-based approach can accelerate innovation in financial services and allow banks to rapidly deliver new products and services that evolve in line with changing customer needs.”

Eric Boyd, CVP, Azure AI, Microsoft, said, “With initiatives such as Open Banking and PSD2 spurring increased competition and innovation in financial services, this hackathon gives participating teams a fantastic opportunity to showcase their ideas and build prototypes. The use of APIs and cloud platforms is crucial in changing the way banks deploy new applications and engage with a new generation of developers that can help them innovate from the outside-in.”

Gareth Wilson, global Payments lead for Accenture, said, “We are thrilled to be working with Finastra to bring together the industry and ensure technology is at the heart of change in financial services. Open Banking is still at the start of its revolution, and it’s vital we keep building an ecosystem of partners to transform the banking landscape for consumers. We are delighted to be supporting FusionONE and look forward to seeing the next generation of ideas come to life.”

The FusionONE Hackathon is a pre-cursor to the FusionONE open API developer conference, May 21-22 in London – four of the best apps at the hackathon will then pitch live on stage at FusionONE for the crown.

The WatchGuard Cloud Platform Answers Call from MSPs

Managed Service Providers demand simplified, scalable security, management and reporting

9 April 2019 – WatchGuard® has unveiled its WatchGuard Cloud platform, which centralises security management and reporting from a single cloud-based interface. Built to support managed service providers (MSPs), WatchGuard Cloud reduces infrastructure costs, accelerates customer acquisition and minimises time spent on reporting and operational tasks.

The new cloud platform delivers true multi-tier, multi-tenant capabilities, scaling automatically to allow MSPs to create and manage an unlimited number of customer accounts, manage and deploy new appliances and applications and gain valuable insights into a customer’s network. It simplifies how MSPs protect their customers while enabling rapid, efficient and profitable growth.

“MSPs need a modern, cloud-hosted security solution that’s capable of providing powerful security insights, unlimited scalability and easy deployment processes,” said Andrew Young, SVP of product management at WatchGuard. “WatchGuard’s mission is to make cyber security simple and this applies not just to end users, but also to the partners who deploy, configure, and manage our products and services. Simplicity is in our DNA, so we are extending that to our partners with the launch of WatchGuard Cloud.”

Key Features of the WatchGuard Cloud platform include:

  • Limitless Account Management – WatchGuard Cloud is built on a multi-tier, multi-tenant architecture, allowing service providers to create and onboard any number and type of customer accounts, while ensuring separation of data between tenants and role-based access to information.
  • Scalable Performance – the platform responds immediately and automatically to changing compute and storage requirements, allowing it to maintain high performance, running reports in seconds across terabytes of data while providing summarised insights.
  • Inventory Allocation & Account Delegation – powerful inventory management features let service providers view and track licensing across all customers. They can also allocate and deallocate services to those customers on terms that fit their service models. Additionally, tenants have the ability to delegate access to another tenant, including control over duration and permissions.
  • Automated Alerts & Notifications – As a centralised management interface, the WatchGuard Cloud platform allows users to quickly and easily configure alerts and notifications across all security applications, including visibility of Firebox UTM and AUTH Point multi-factor authentication events. MSSPs can access notifications on anything from customer licenses, usage or expirations to security and performance updates.
  • Flexible Data Retention – WatchGuard Cloud offers a variety of data retention options — including 30 days with the WatchGuard Total Security Suite — removing the need to configure, deploy, maintain and scale servers and appliances for logging and reporting.
  • Zero Infrastructure Requirements – As a cloud-hosted service, the platform has no hardware requirements for service providers to deploy.
  • Powerful Visibility and Reporting – WatchGuard Cloud comes with more than 100 dashboards and reports that identify key network security threats, issues and trends, while accelerating users’ ability to set and enforce meaningful security policies.
  • Platform and Data Security – Security of the centrally managed, cloud-hosted platform itself is a top priority. Not only are user logins protected by advanced multi-factor authentication, but WatchGuard Cloud offers built-in security for data in transit and at rest, which enables users to implement role-based access control and supports the logical separation of data between tenants, as well as partitions between subscriber accounts.

For more information about the platform and how to get started today, visit the WatchGuard Cloud page.
