OutSystems Recognised by Gartner for Critical Capabilities for Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms

OutSystems among the five highest-scoring vendors for every use case identified by Gartner

LONDON – 15th November, 2019 – OutSystems, provider of the number one low-code application development platform, today announced that Gartner, Inc., the world’s leading information technology and advisory company, has recognised OutSystems in its 2019 Gartner Critical Capabilities for Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms* report. OutSystems is among the five highest scores for every use case identified by Gartner.

The report examined the capabilities of 19 vendors to meet the needs of organisations in four distinct use cases: citizen development, business unit IT applications, enterprise IT composite applications, and SaaS and ISV Mobile & Web Applications. OutSystems received the highest overall score for SaaS and independent software vendor (ISV) mobile and web applications, the second-highest score for enterprise IT composite applications, and scored within the highest five scores for both citizen development and business unit IT applications.

“We believe this recognition, combined with our placement in the Leaders quadrant in the Gartner Magic Quadrant for Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms, validates our comprehensive approach to low-code development,” said Paulo Rosado, OutSystems Co-Founder and CEO. “But we feel that nothing reflects the value of our platform better than the success our customers are experiencing. They frequently share how OutSystems has helped them modernise aging systems, use cloud applications to become more agile and respond to change, turn small departmental apps into core applications for the enterprise, and deliver omnichannel digital experiences that their customers love. We think these scores from Gartner reflect the innovation our customers are driving in their businesses.”

OutSystems was evaluated across the following nine critical capabilities: no-code development; end-user experience; UX data, logic, and process; back-end data, logic and process; integration capabilities; enterprise IT SDLC support; advanced architecture support; cloud functionality; and enterprise worthiness.

Our low-code platform has helped OutSystems customers achieve unparalleled results like:

  • FWD Insurance launched a new customer-facing app called Tapp in 90 days that has catapulted them from 33rd to 8th largest insurance provider in the Philippines in just four years and features integrated live chat, payment reminders, and fingerprint authentication.
  • EDP built a brand-new core payment collection system from scratch that serves 200 collection agents and has processed 55 million transactions and 6 billion euros.
  • Albert Heijn, part of the international food retail group Ahold Delhaize, consolidated nine core applications into one app that is used in more than 1000 stores by more than 100,000 users and cuts task time by 50 percent.

The OutSystems low-code application development platform gives organisations the freedom to think big and innovate with no limits. It addresses critical issues like the skyrocketing demand for new enterprise applications, aging legacy systems that need to be modernised or replaced, citizen development, field services, and omnichannel digital CX. The platform offers capabilities for enterprise-grade development and full lifecycle management, integration, UI/UX, business logic, data models, web services, and APIs. OutSystems offers access to capabilities such as an advanced web and mobile user experience, B2C solutions, and even batch processing.

According to Gartner, “Low-code application platforms (LCAPs) continue to grow in capability and maturity, addressing more enterprise use cases and providing rapid application delivery with fewer skills to the advantage of businesses everywhere. They are also replacing traditional Java and .NET developments where the requirements do not justify the costs and skills of cloud-native application platforms.”

The Gartner Critical Capabilities for Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms report is intended to help organisations who are evaluating low-code application platforms to create their shortlist. It explains and scores the core features and use cases for low-code application platforms. Read a complimentary copy of the Gartner October 2019 Critical Capabilities for Enterprise Low-Code Application Platforms.

OutSystems Launches First-of-Its-Kind Low-Code School to Train New Professional Low-Code Developers

LONDON – 13th November 2019OutSystems, provider of the number one low-code application development platform, today announced that it has opened the first-ever Low-Code School in the UK, increasing career opportunities for those not currently versed in low-code application development.

Following the success of the OutSystems Low-Code School in Portugal, the free-of-charge course is open to any developer with at least three years of professional experience in web or mobile coding languages. The first series of extra-curricular sessions will be held at the OutSystems London office on weekdays between 25th November and 9th December 2019 in the evenings and will be delivered by a certified OutSystems trainer.

The Low-Code School has been devised to plug the UK coding skills gap. Demand for OutSystems professionals continues to grow exponentially, with an estimated 600 job opportunities for professionals versed in low-code application development available across the country.

OutSystems customers such as the UK’s largest property marketing group FocalAgentCapita Consulting and Thomas Miller have already endorsed the Low-Code School, identifying it as an ideal way to hire new low-code professionals. The Low-Code School will enable OutSystems to successfully train more than 100 professionals before the end of 2019.

“Being an OutSystems customer has opened up opportunities for Focal to develop applications in a modern and visual manner. The platform challenges traditional mindsets related to software development, preparing Focal for the future of application development,” said Rolf Groenewold, Co-Founder and Managing Director of FocalAgent. “As with any business, the greatest challenge is always talent and the OutSystems initiative to stimulate job creation in the low-code market will help Focal attract a new wave of low-code professionals and continue to innovate and remain the market leader in our segment.”

“We have substantial plans to build the best-in-class OutSystems consulting ecosystem,” said Patrick Gormley, Consulting Services Lead at Capita Consulting. “This process will be streamlined by the OutSystems Low-Code School, which applies a refreshing and effective approach to ensure the best low-code talent doesn’t go unnoticed.”

The course consists of two weeks of OutSystems technology training, with free access to an online Associate Developer Exam upon completion of the course. Completing the exam will increase the marketability of the individual as qualified in low-code and will open the opportunity to meet potential employers within the OutSystems community who are hiring new developers.

“The number of low-code developers in the UK is far outstripped by the requirements of OutSystems customers, who are looking to hire fresh talent to keep up with burgeoning demand,” explains Garry Larner, Regional Director Financial Services and Insurance at OutSystems. “These unprecedented market conditions have led to the creation of the Low-Code School, which is a game-changer in terms of reskilling existing programmers in the way of low-code and the OutSystems platform, opening up new opportunities for those who want to take a different career direction.”

The Low-Code School is part of OutSystems wider corporate strategy to vastly increase the number of professionals skilled in the low-code language. It complements OutSystems global portfolio of online and classroom-based low-code bootcamps, which teach budding developers everything from the low-code basics and how to navigate the OutSystems ecosystem, to advanced application development.

“This Low-Code School has positioned OutSystems as the undisputed leader in educating existing IT professionals in the way of low-code. The demands of our customers and the significant growth of the technology has enabled us to create a new pool of talent and do all we can for those looking to move into application development and design,” adds Larner.

TravelPerk named the world’s fastest growing SaaS company in 2019 SaaS 1000

Next-gen business travel management platform continues hypergrowth

Barcelona, 12th November 2019: Business travel management platform, TravelPerk, today announced that it has been recognised as the world’s fastest growing Software-as-a-Service (SaaS) company, according to the 2019 edition of SaaS Mag’s acclaimed ranking, the SaaS 1000.

The SaaS 1000 is an annual ranking of the world’s top growing SaaS companies. Using a proprietary algorithm, industry publication SaaS Mag ranks the fastest-growing SaaS companies based on hiring trends, growth indicators and the number of employees. According to this algorithm, TravelPerk has achieved 122% growth, making the company the world’s fastest growing SaaS provider over the last 12 months. TravelPerk was ranked 5th in 2018’s SaaS 1000 and is one of only two European companies in the top ten in 2019.

The recognition from SaaS Mag follows a landmark year for TravelPerk. Key milestones for the business in 2019 included:

  • Funding – In July, TravelPerk closed a $104m Series C funding round, bringing the total investment in the company to $134m.
  • Innovation – 2019 also saw the release of FlexiPerk, a ground-breaking new product that gives business travelers unprecedented flexibility to cancel and get a refund on any booking-hotel, trains, car hire, and flights-at any time, for any reason.
  • Inventory – This year TravelPerk has continued to invest in its inventory with an Integration with Trainline, Europe’s largest rail and coach booking platform, and a partnership with Lufthansa Group Airlines to offer direct booking for customers through new distribution capability (NDC) technology.
  • International expansion – TravelPerk has also begun an aggressive international expansion strategy, with offices opened in London and Berlin and more to be announced.

Avi Meir, CEO and co-founder of TravelPerk, said:
“We created TravelPerk in 2015 because we knew that business travelers needed a dramatically better experience. The industry had been dominated by outdated tech and outdated thinking and we believed there was a big opportunity for a startup that could use technology to give travelers a seamless experience while providing businesses with more control and visibility. The rapid growth we have experienced since then shows that we were right – but we’re not done yet. We have ambitious growth plans for 2020 and we’re working on some really exciting innovations that we believe can take business travel into a new era, and drive the next stage of our company growth.”

Testim Is First to Expand AI-based Testing to Developers; Previews New Development Kit

SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 13, 2019  — Testim, the pioneer of codeless AI-based software testing in 2014, disrupts the industry once more with the announcement of the Testim Development Kit, a new way for developers to quickly create resilient tests directly in code. For the first time, developers can enjoy the benefits of AI-based testing while leveraging their preferred Integrated Development Environment (IDE).

Microsoft, Autodesk, Swisscom, LogMeIn, and others run millions of tests using Testim every month. Now, the Development Kit builds on Testim’s proven AI-based testing capabilities, providing super-fast authoring of trusted, non-flaky tests. Testim’s AI inspects the elements of the application and continuously learns from and improves the robustness of tests.

Testim’s open approach to testing lets developers and QA engineers write tests their way, in their tools and processes, so they can collaborate freely. Unlike other codeless test automation tools, developers can download their tests as code, eliminating vendor lock-in.

“The Dev Kit is a key element of our commitment to deliver a compromise-free solution for developers,” said Oren Rubin, founder and CEO of Testim. “The Dev Kit builds on our commitment to make testing more collaborative and open as possible so that teams can deliver quality software faster. Customer feedback has already been exceptional and we’re eager to deliver this Dev Kit to market.”

Why the Testim Development Kit is so Important

Modern development teams are beginning to orient workflows around the concept of ‘everything-as-code,’ or the alignment of every part of the software development lifecycle (SDLC) around code or code-like systems. Built with the SDLC in mind, the Testim Development Kit ensures that existing Testim capabilities, like recorded UI interactions, PDF or email validations, as well as new features will be available as API commands. This makes it possible for developers to create and edit robust coded tests and manage them in their version control system next to their application code.

“One of the things that we love about Testim is that they continue to deliver new innovations to help improve our testing experience,” said Ran Mizrachi, senior software engineering lead at Microsoft. “The Dev Kit will give our team the speed and stability of AI-based codeless tests with the flexibility of code.”

Part of the movement toward ‘everything-as-code’ is the emergence of ‘shift-left testing,’ where increasingly, testing is done much earlier in the development lifecycle. For tech teams that are shifting left, the Testim Development Kit gives QA automation engineers an opportunity to better align tests and QA processes with development workflows.

“The addition of the Development Kit makes Testim the only company to provide developers and QA automation engineers with the complete freedom to work the way they want—in code, in the UI, or some combination of the two,” said Shawn Jaques, director of Product Marketing. “The flexibility this new feature provides has the potential to transform the way development teams test applications, allowing more people to be involved in testing, whether recording codeless tests or writing tests as code in the tools they already know and love.”

About Testim
Founded in late 2014, Testim helps companies accelerate time-to-market, improve software quality and integrates into agile processes. With offices in San Francisco and Tel Aviv, the company is a pioneer in using AI for the authoring, execution, and maintenance of automated tests. Included in the 2019 SD Times 100: ‘Best in Show’ in Software Development for Testing, the Testim platform learns and adapts automated tests to code changes, minimizing maintenance time and makes authoring incredibly fast. Microsoft, Autodesk, Swisscom, LogMeIn, and others run millions of tests using Testim every month.

Edge Testing boosts team following financial sector contract wins

New contract wins boost financial sector client base, while appointment aims to bolster software testing company’s business across banking and asset management clients

One of the UK’s fastest-growing and largest independent software testing companies, Edge Testing Solutions, part of Eurofins Digital Testing, has recently added two new financial sector clients to its roster with multi-year, multi-million pound engagements. As a result of this success, the company has appointed Poorva Baderia as Business Development Manager targeting financial services sector clients in the Midlands and South of England.

Current financial clients include several major Building Societies and Investment Companies. The contracts cover a variety of software testing services including managed, functional, performance and automated testing, and are being undertaken both onsite and remotely from Edge Testing’s Birmingham, Manchester and Glasgow-based Digital Test Hubs.

Bringing extensive experience in software testing sales, Poorva will operate out of Birmingham and London with a primary focus on financial services and asset management, thanks to her expertise in those sectors.

A former engineer who relocated from India to study Business Technology Consultancy at Henley Business School, Poorva worked at Tata Consultancy Services on Morgan Stanley for two years, where she was instrumental in securing a Tier 1 Netherlands bank contract. Prior to her move to Edge Testing, Poorva was a Business Development Manager at Sogeti.

Poorva’s appointment is part of a number of new senior hires as the company grows, including England and Wales’ Regional Manager David Singleton; Business Development Manager, Alex Griffin and Service Delivery Manager Justin Brown.

Poorva commented: “Our London and Birmingham bases are ideally placed to make the best use of the M4 corridor and M5 link to find exciting clients and projects from Bristol and Wales all the way down to London and Exeter. London is the country’s financial hub, so I see my new role being one where I ensure Edge Testing’s UK-wide business plan progresses in line with the capital’s evolution.

“Additionally, the move of financial sector businesses out of London to the Midlands provides Edge Testing with further opportunities to deliver software testing services”

Combining her technical background as an engineer with her business acumen, Poorva’s new role will see her fostering new client relations, understanding their challenges to develop services in line with their requirements and identifying where Edge Testing can bring value to existing and future projects.

David Singleton concluded: “Poorva brings both technical and practical experience, offering our business development team a dual hat approach to ensure we meet all of our clients’ needs and help boost Edge Testing’s presence in the Midlands and South of England.

“Edge Testing’s success has very much been due to the company’s unwavering focus on clients and bringing added value through our unique Digital Test Hub and Academy-as-a-Service offerings, which take the effort and cost out of securing UK-based testing services on-demand. Poorva’s appointment is another step in providing an experienced, client-focused team with significant technical expertise.”

Poorva’s appointment is just a part of Edge Testing’s continued growth, adding to a team of over 260 people, including some of the UK’s premier testing thought leaders and experts.
