Web portal and mobile app failing expectations

The state government had planned to go hi-tech this Simhastha Mela, but the two pillars of asset management including the Human Resource Management System and Simhastha mobile app are failing to deliver. For the past three days the app and web portal are not working properly because they are yet to clear technical testing, with barely 3 days left for first Shahi Snana.

Confirmed sources said the apathy of the officers and laxity of the company led to the worsening of conditions. It is said that Mumbai based company IT Shastra, which was entrusted with the task of developing mobile application for Simhastha, outsourced the task to another Indore based company namely ‘47 Billion Information Technologies’ owned by Amol Vaidya. Even representative of Vaidya’s company is handling all the issues in the mela office. According to rules this pyramid structure opted by IT Shastra is against the laws. However the in-charge officer SS Rawat claimed that only IT Shastra team was working upon the project and the security testing was cleared earlier.

Basic agenda behind developing the web based portal was engaging the common public, but owing to complexities the application and portal have become almost obsolete. Mumbai based company IT Shastra has remained in turmoil since day one of the work. Rawat had been expressing dissatisfaction with the company since day one. Smooth working was not delivered by application on different platforms.  Another shocker which sources in the mela office revealed that the company which was given contract of Rs 60 lakhs for developing the apps has allegedly copied the contents from official Simhastha mela website ‘simhasthaujjain.in’, created a by a different company.

Another issue is that the application if facing that lack of interest and complexity of usage. Sadhus and saints do not even know that such an app or portal is exists. Some of them who used it did not get timely responded by the authorities for redressal of their problems.  On the problem redressal portal fresh or old complaints, they always show same status “in progress”, which clearly shows that complaints are not being closed. Conditions are also unclear whether the mela office has glove in hands too in this issue.
